How to find light for Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Early in your Clair Obscur Expedition 33 playthrough, you'll explore Spring Meadows and discover multiple enemy types, bosses, and even an initially harmless creature that wants to find some light. This entity, known as Jar, is a Nevron that can turn dangerous quickly despite its seemingly friendly demeanor. Interestingly enough, Gustave and the rest of your expedition team can find light for Jar, letting you perform a good deed for the day before moving on to your next objective. You can even take things a step further for extra rewards if you wish, but this comes with some risk. How to find light for Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Finding light for Jar in Expedition 33 requires locating some resin, giving it to Jar, and using Gustave's gun or Lune's blast to ignite it. Resin is a flammable material, making it the perfect option for this encounter. The first step in this process is finding some resin. Starting from the spot where you found Jar, head past the flag out of the cave and follow its path until you see a flare ignite. You'll find multiple enemies in this area, but we can bypass most of them by following the path directly to the right of the cave's exit. You're more than welcome to fight them if you want some quick and easy EXP, though. Screenshot by Destructoid At the end of this path, you'll arrive at a cliff edge where you can look down to spot a bridge, more enemies, and a small purple light along a cliffside. Jump down from this ledge and run down the ramp past the bridge to approach the light, eliminating the enemy in front of it to make collecting it easier. You'll find several broken crates and barrels with the purple light in their center. Break these to make it easier to access, letting you collect some resin. Now, you can backtrack to Jar's location to give it the resin, rewarding you with a Healing Tint Shard. What happens if you attack Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33? After giving Jar the resin and lighting its torch, you'll have optional follow-up dialogue choices that lets you attack this Nevron. If you don't want to engage in combat, you can leave the conversation by selecting "Well, good luck with that. We'll be on our way." However, defeating Jar in battle gives you some helpful rewards with no negative consequences besides knowing you fought this otherwise harmless creature. Screenshot by Destructoid As soon as you initiate battle, Jar will start a four-hit combo with its torch, quickly attacking one of your party members with little time between to parry or dodge. The first three strikes come in quickly, while the fourth has some buildup. Fortunately for us, Jar will repeat this attack, giving you a chance to learn its patterns. Jar is a tough enemy to fight this early in your Expedition 33 playthrough, especially if you're on higher difficulties where one mistake can instantly kill one of your party members. It's also resistant to physical damage but weak to most elemental damage types, so take advantage of Lune's abilities and Gustave's Overcharge for some solid damage. Outside of this, your fight with Jar is mostly a test of quick reflexes when dodging and parrying. Defeating Jar in battle will net you three Colour of Lumina and one Chroma Catalyst on top of the Healing Tint you got earlier. Colour of Lumina gives one of your characters an extra Lumia Point, while Chroma Catalyst lets you upgrade your weapons at camp.
