How to start Painter's Regret treasure in Avowed Before you head off on the journey to follow the treasure map, you need to actually find it first. The Painter's Regret treasure map can't be purchased from any vendor in Emerald Stair. Instead, you can pick up a physical painting somewhere in the region. Specifically, you have to travel to the Farmer's Market location on the southeastern side of Emerald Stair. Here, head into one of the locked buildings on the east side of the location, which you can access by climbing in through a window on the backside of it. Inside the well-lit building, you'll find the Painter's Regret painting, which you can take to follow it as a treasure map. The only way to start the Painter's Regret treasure is to pick up this painting. As you can see on the map in your quest journal, there's a waterfall that's just outside of Fior mes Iverno in Emerald Stair, and the treasure is inside some sort of cave on the left side of the waterfall. This exact location is southwest of Fior mes Iverno, just north of the Rootbound Godless Ruins and Belderreno's Lair. The best way to reach the treasure's location, however, is by coming from the north. There's a party camp waystone just north of the treasure and the Ranger Outpost to the northwest with a fast-travel beacon nearby. You can also come from the south or any other direction, but you'll have to take a longer route to reach the treasure. There's a winding path near the waterfall you can use to get up to the treasure, but this will involve climbing some rocks. At the spot on the map we've outlined above, you'll be in the middle of a cliff, and there will be a small cave in front of you. There are no doors to the cave or anything to open, so you can just walk right in and open a chest on the left side of the cave. If you're playing as a wizard or ranger who uses bows or guns, this can actually be a solid addition to your character's gear set.
