They say looks aren’t everything, but let’s be honest: It’s hard to ignore the striking American Express® Gold Card in rose gold.
With its pinkish gold hue and metallic texture, Amex’s Gold Card in rose gold is one of the best-looking cards out there.
Luckily for all of us, the card is great on the inside, too. Its earning rates on spending at restaurants worldwide and on groceries place it on our lists of best cards for both categories.
How to request a rose gold color for the Amex Gold
Amex Gold cardmembers can choose between the timeless gold hue the card is known for (made of 85% recycled plastic) and the alluring rose gold option (made of metal).
If you’re an existing cardmember, log in to your account and navigate to “Account Services.” Then, click on “Card Management” and “Change Card Design.”
If you’re a new cardmember, you can choose your color during the application process.
Why should you apply for the Amex Gold?
The Amex Gold is aimed at foodies who like to dine out and cook at home.
It offers an impressive 4 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at restaurants worldwide (on up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar) and at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar).
On the travel side, you’ll earn 3 points per dollar spent on flights booked directly with the airline or through amextravel.com and 2 points per dollar spent on prepaid hotels and other eligible travel booked through Amex Travel.
The $325 annual fee (see rates and fees) is more than offset by the valuable statement credits the Amex Gold offers.
New applicants can earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 on eligible purchases with the card within the first six months from account opening. Based on TPG’s March 2025 valuations, that bonus is worth a solid $1,200.
