The Full House 2025 invitational organised by Lucky 7’s featured top Super Smash Bros. Melee pros, all coming together in Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania to prove who’s the best ahead of some massive Smash events this summer.
With so many top players in one spot, you’re bound to see some insane, emotional and all-around incredible moments. Here are three standout matches from the exciting event on May 16th – 18th, proving that Melee is still one of the hypest grassroots scenes in the dynamic FGC.
moky Beats Zain For the First Time
Kurtis ‘moky’ Pratt had the run of his life at Full House, finishing in second place against some of the best Melee players in the world. This included facing Zain Naghmi, who is undoubtedly considered the best of the best this past year.
moky has never beaten Zain in a match before, so he was definitely the underdog when they faced off in Swiss Pools early into the tournament. However, moky ended up taking two games off of Zain, getting him his first-ever victory against the feared competitor.
In the Top 8, Zain was knocked out by Jeffrey ‘Axe’ Williamson in the Losers Quarter-Finals. This ensured that moky wouldn’t have to face him again on his grind to the Grand Finals, where he fell to fellow Fox main Cody Schwab. Still, this win against Zain was quite the statement from moky early into the 2025 season.
Mang0 Beats Hungrybox With Falco 7 Years Later
Joseph ‘Mang0’ Marquez and Juan ‘Hungrybox’ DeBiedma probably have one of the longest-running rivalries in Smash at this point. Both Melee Gods have impressive runs in Smash and often clash in-game as well as on social media and beyond.
The matchup between Hungrybox and Mang0 in the Top 8 was quite intense. Hungrybox has been on a high since his victory at Genesis X2 earlier this year, breaking a long-time Major curse. Even so, Mang0 gave his fans hope when he beat Hungrybox 3-1 in Pools, the first time he’s won a match against Hungrybox using Falco since Smash Summit 6 seven years ago.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the same story in the Top 8 when the two rivals met once again. In one of the most intensely close matches of the event, Hungrybox and Mang0 were locked in with a 2-2 record.
The final game had both players down to one stock. But in the end, Hungrybox caught Mang0 with a signature Rest, moving him forward in the Top 8 and eliminating Mang0 from the tournament.
While the intense set definitely had some Smash fans pumped to see two ‘legends’ having the match of a lifetime, others lamented that the ‘villain’ had won in the end. It was definitely a painful loss for Mang0’s side of the rivalry.
Commentator Curse Gives Cody Schwab the Victory
This had to be one of the most anticlimactic yet memorable Grand Finals in the history of Super Smash Bros. Melee — and that’s saying a lot, considering the game is over two decades old.
It was now 2-0, with Cody needing just one more game to win the entire tourney. During this wild Fox mirror, the commentators brought up how moky had glitched and fell through the Pokemon Stadium stage in a past match. At the same time, Cody could be seen shaking his head in amusement while wavedashing, waiting for moky to leave his spot atop a wooden hazard and join him.
As moky started blocking and messing around on the platform, commentators started saying ‘don’t go down there, don’t go down there.’ Both started screaming in horror as it happened — moky’s Fox slipped through the stage and plummeted to his death.
This ended the match immediately, giving Cody a 3-0 victory.
“The most insane way you’ll ever see a tournament end,” Cody tweeted.
Despite the ending being out of control, Cody spent the entire tourney grinding hard in Winners side. It was an amazing run for the top Fox player, who is having a super strong 2025 thus far.
