Replacing old deck boards

Hi. This is my first time posting, and hope it doesn't violate the rules because it's not about a completed project. I'm going to replace the boards on my deck. The boards were attached with deck screws but I'm having trouble taking most of the screws out because they are either really stuck in the boards and so I end up stripping the heads (square hole), or they are in rotten wood so I can't get the screws to unscrew, yet they still are in there well enough that they keep the boards in place. Do I just start prying the boards up with a crow-bar? Will that damage the beams underneath the deck too much? Thanks for your advice. submitted by /u/hdquemada [link] [comments]
