English football club Wolves recently celebrated its VALORANT roster following victories during Masters Toronto 2025; however, some fans online didn’t share the team’s enthusiasm.

In response to a post made on X, some football fans have voiced outrage over Wolves posting about its esports scene while its football division has struggled in the Premier League, with some users demanding that the club ‘read the room.’

As of writing this article, Wolves’ VALORANT team have reached the Upper Bracket Finals of the Masters Toronto playoffs and is scheduled to face off against Paper Rex. The team has managed to win against notable organisations such as RRQ and Gen.G Esports so far, despite being seen as an underdog at the event.

As a result, Wolves went online to celebrate its achievements in the competition so far, but the organisation was met with comments online drawing parallels to the state of the organisation’s football division.

“How come the Wolves esports don’t retweet or publish things about the Wolves men’s/women’s football team?” one user wrote online.

The backlash was likely due to the post being made on the official Wolves X page in addition to its dedicated esports account. While it does post about esports developments, the main X account mainly focuses on news and events surrounding its football teams.

On the other hand, some users have celebrated Wolves Esports’ achievements under the social media post.

Wolves VALORANT Or Football?

While Wolves Esports have been going strong in esports, it’s real-life football scene has struggled in comparison. The men’s football team in particular has been seeing a lot of drastic changes, from losing star players in team transfers to shifts in leadership.

“Not going to lie, the Wolves VALORANT team may be better than the men’s football team,” one user wrote online.

The comments on Wolves’ post are in stark contrast to those made on the dedicated Wolves Esports account. On this page, sentiments were more positive as fans celebrated the organisation’s wins.

“You don’t want to know how many circles I ran around in my office after this,” one user wrote in response to the post.

The post on the Wolves page currently has over 400,000 views, 10 times more than the same post made on Wolves Esports. It has invited heated debates within the comment section from both fan bases. However, it has highlighted how football clubs are continually looking to utilise esports to grow their brands outside of traditional sports.

Alongside Wolves Esports, which has multiple teams within China, the likes of Barcelona, PSG and Beşiktaş have notable esports divisions.
