111Skin Reveals Debut US Sunscreen: an SPF 50 Mineral Formula With Skincare Benefits
The luxury skincare brand's new sunscreen hits US retail for $130 and launches June 12.

London-based luxury skincare brand 111Skin revealed its latest product Wednesday afternoon: an SPF 50 sunscreen that also offers a host of benefits to the skin. Though the brand has sunscreens available internationally, this new formula marks 111Skin's debut sunscreen in the US.
As it is a mineral sunscreen, it uses zinc oxide, a physical filter, to block harmful UV rays. Its other key ingredients focus on strengthening the skin through a mix of white mulberry extract, replete with antioxidants that target hyperpigmentation and promote brighter-appearing skin; polyglutamic acid, which boosts hydration; NAC Y², a proprietary 111Skin complex that boosts regeneration and recovery (used in the brand's fan-favorite serum); and more.
"We set out to create a high protection sunscreen that does not negatively impact the efficacy of your skincare. In fact, [one that does] quite the opposite," Dr. Yannis Alexandrides MD FACS, 111Skin founder and triple board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, said in a statement. The new formula, designed to meet FDA's specific regulations, was in the making for six years. It's available on the brand's website and will be available to shop at retailers globally starting June 12. A 50-milliliter bottle retails for $130.
The best way to apply this sunscreen, according to the surgeon, isn't too different than the norm: 15 to 20 minutes before sun exposure, slather on a generous layer over the face and neck after moisturizing. If applying makeup, apply this under any cosmetics.
"The Sunscreen SPF50 enhances your routine through the anti-inflammatory properties of our proprietary NAC Y2TM ingredient technology. Delivering this innovative formula at SPF50 was quite the challenge, but a worthy undertaking in supporting not only my patients, but our clients worldwide," Dr. Alexandrides continued.
