Day 1 of JetBlue’s birthday sale: Bonus TrueBlue points

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers.

Happy 25th birthday to JetBlue Airways.

To celebrate, the New York City-based airline is back with its annual birthday sale, which offers five days of travel deals.

Monday’s deal offers JetBlue Card holders the opportunity to earn up to 5,000 bonus TrueBlue points when they meet minimum spending requirements, including on airfare and JetBlue Vacations packages.

JETBLUE

Airline: JetBlue Airways
How to book: Directly with the airline
Travel dates: Feb. 10 to Feb. 28
Book by: Friday

JetBlue is starting its birthday celebration with a deal for JetBlue Card holders who meet minimum spending requirements by Feb. 28, specifically:

  • 5,000 bonus TrueBlue points when you spend at least $2,500 on JetBlue purchases
  • 2,500 bonus TrueBlue points when you spend between $1,500 to $2,499 on JetBlue purchases
  • 1,500 bonus TrueBlue points when you spend between $1,000 to $1,499 on JetBlue purchases
  • 1,000 bonus TrueBlue points when you spend between $500 to $999 on JetBlue purchases

Eligible JetBlue purchases include those booked on the JetBlue website, JetBlue reservations, JetBlue Vacations and Paisly by JetBlue (excluding car rentals and airport ticket counters) between Feb. 10 and Feb. 28. Purchasing TrueBlue points does not count toward the eligible spending amount. If you make an eligible purchase, you should expect to see the points in your account within six to eight weeks of the promotion ending.

With no annual fee, the JetBlue Card does not have many perks, but one of its main benefits is a 50% inflight savings on food and beverage purchases when you use the card to pay. JetBlue Card users earn 3 TrueBlue points per dollar on JetBlue purchases, 2 points per dollar on restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point per dollar on everything else. TrueBlue members who use the card to book flights will also earn at least 2 points per dollar on JetBlue flights booked directly on top of the aforementioned 3 points per dollar.

Maximize your purchase

If you book a JetBlue flight, use a card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases. Frequent JetBlue flyers can use the JetBlue Plus Card for 6 points per dollar spent on eligible JetBlue purchases, the JetBlue Card for 3 points per dollar spent on eligible JetBlue purchases or the JetBlue Business Card for 6 points per dollar spent on eligible JetBlue purchases.

Otherwise, try The Platinum Card® from American Express (5 points per dollar spent on airfare booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel, on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar), the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (3 points per dollar spent on airfare), the American Express® Gold Card (3 points per dollar spent on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through amextravel.com) or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (2 points per dollar spent on travel).

The information for the JetBlue Plus Card, JetBlue Card and JetBlue Business Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
