Doorway Reno - Removed Trim
Hi there! We just bought our first house and are making reno before we move in. We are doing basically everything ourselves. We are inexperienced, but willing to learn and are quick learners. The pictured situation: these two doorways were trimmed, but due to the closet-under-the-stair-slanted-ceiling, the trim was awkward at an angle. I started removing it planning on installing drywall and making a trim-less way, but when i removed the corner at the slanted ceiling, I found an issue. I found these cute arch-things on Etsy to make it an arched way easy, but now my dilemma is that one entryway is 36"W and the other is 52"W. Thats... quite the difference. Also, the ceiling light between is centered on the FLAT ceiling, so my want for a pendant light would be super complicated or look bad bc its not aligned. My current gameplay is to make both entryways 36"W (since I think thats a load bearing wall plus the kitchen counter limits how much I can knock out), then make them both bullnose arches. After that, maybe add shelves and a sconce into the created nook.... but im open to ideas. Mind you, I've been scavenging Pinterest and YouTube for possible answers here, and the above is my best option so far. Second picture: to the right is the garage door, to the left is the kitchen, behind is the laundry room and a half bath, beyond the next entryway is the living and dining room. submitted by /u/lizzie4560 [link] [comments]
