First time stone/tile DIY project

This was my first time doing a stone/tile related DIY project, let alone a project requiring a powered saw. It was so frustrating and fun at the same time. The way my island is built made this project challenging because the two sides have a "ledge" to it that extends past the cabinetry wall. I really wanted the stone panel to wrap around all of the sides which essentially meant I had to miter cut 4 outside corners, and one of those surfaces was just a narrow strip. This project took about about 16 hours total. I had to work quickly because I only had the wet saw rental for 24 hours. I have a question for a more experienced DIYer regarding the small gap at the very top of the stone panel where it meets with the island counter top. Does this gap need to be filled with something or can I leave it as is since this area is rarely exposed to water and not really visible day to day? submitted by /u/chubbycheeks00 [link] [comments]
