Paramount+ Reveals Upcoming Kendrick Lamar Film Title and Release Date

Paramount+ has revealed what its upcoming original film project with Kendrick Lamar will be. The rapper is still riding the high off most-watched Super Bowl Halftime Show. Continuing to move the pop culture needle, Kendrick Lamar shows no signs of stopping. Now, the Compton rapper is linking up with South Park creator Trey Parker for a new comedy set to be release this summer. Expected to be titled Whitney Springs, the original film was confirmed with few details. Pararmount+'s synopsis reads, "A black man interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum finds out that his white girlfriend's ancestors once owned his."The global streaming platform confirms that Whitney Springs is set to release this summer on July 11. The poster image leaves room for imagination but features an announcement that lists stars Chloe East and Celeste Octavia's involvement. In a previous Bloomberg interview, Parker revealed his excitement on working with Lamar and co-producer Dave Free back in October 2024, "We're doing a movie with Kendrick, with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free and their company. And we're working on it and hopefully come out July 4 weekend opposite Jurassic Park, which is pretty funny." He also added, "[Kendrick Lamar is] very involved. And Dave Free is very involved.
