Upper spray arm on frigidaire fdbc45bas2
I can't get the upper spray arm to turn on this dishwasher, and it is driving me crazy. Would really appreciate your ideas. Upper spray arm: the arm that spins underneath the upper rack. I put a waterproof camera in the dishwasher and watched it. This dishwasher has a waterfall from a nozzle in the top of the basin. The water falls into the spray arm and then somehow (?) builds up enough pressure to spin the arm, I think. The arm spins feely when I touch it. I thought maybe the spray arm wasn't getting enough pressure so I tried replacing the pump. That made the bottom arm spin harder & faster, but the top arm still doesn't work. I tried cleaning the spray holes in the arm (although only 2 of the holes seem to be pointed in a direction that would spin it). Also cleaned the filters, impeller, and everything else in the basin I can to by removing screws. I tried intentionally clogging all of the spray holes except the spin-direction ones. The water coming out out of those two holes rose up to about 6 inches high after that, but still no spin. My dishwasher is very slightly out of level. Not much, but maybe that somehow is part of it? I'm pretty much out of ideas. I think my biggest problem is that I don't understand how the upper spray arm is supposed to move? Is the idea that waterfall somehow has enough water pressure to push water out of all 12 holes with enough force to spin the arm? Is the arm supposed to be really really easy to move so that it spins slowly? Is there a name for this type of dishwasher, where the water comes from the top and falls into a funnel to turn the spray arm?
