What Is 'Die My Love' About? Everything to Know About Jennifer Lawrence & Robert Pattinson's Next Film
The highly anticipated thriller from Scottish director Lynne Ramsay sees Lawrence in one of her most intense roles yet.
Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are set to share the screen together for the first time, but don’t expect this to be some Twilight x Hunger Games crossover fantasy. The pair of A-listers have teamed up with Lynne Ramsay, the critically acclaimed and often challenging Scottish director of We Need To Talk About Kevin, in an adaptation of Die, My Love, a 2019 novel of the same name from Argentine author Ariana Harwicz.

What is Die My Love about?
The film is based on the novel, but a few key elements have been changed (in addition to the movie title losing its comma). Ramsay relocates the story from the French countryside to somewhere in the rural American West, where Grace (Lawrence) and Jackson (Pattinson) have moved from New York City to raise their newborn son. After giving birth, Grace has something of a mental breakdown.
The New Yorker declared the novel as part of the “motherhood horror” genre upon and its release, and while the timing of Grace’s downward spiral suggests it’s post-partum related, Ramsay told Deadline things are a bit more complicated than that: “This whole postpartum thing is just bullshit,” she said. “It’s not about that. It’s about a relationship breaking down, it’s about love breaking down, and sex breaking down after having a baby. And it’s also about a creative block.”
To Variety, she added, “It’s about mental health…and the breakdown of a marriage. But it’s really fucking funny. At least, I think it’s funny…But I’m Glaswegian, so I’ve a really black sense of humor.”
Who else is in the Die My Love cast?
In addition to Lawrence as Grace and Pattinson as Jackson, Sissy Spacek plays Jackson’s mother, and Nick Nolte her husband, Henry. Lakeith Stanfield is also in the film as a mysterious biker whom Grace fantasizes about when he rides by their home.
Is there a trailer for Die My Love?
There’s no official trailer for the film yet, but a clip was released on May 15 that shows Pattinson and Lawrence stalking through tall grass like cats. As they nuzzle and kiss each other while crawling on all fours, Pattinson asks, “Do you wanna get married?” Lawrence responds with a kiss and, “Yeah, fuck yeah.” Watch below:
How is Martin Scorsese involved?
Scorsese produced the film, along with Justine Ciarrocchi, who has worked with Lawrence throughout her career on films like Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games franchise, No Hard Feelings, and Causeway.
Lawrence is also reportedly in talks to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Scorsese’s long-awaited Frank Sinatra biopic, though at the moment that project is indefinitely stalled.
When is the Die My Love release date?
Die My Love premiered on May 17 at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and will have its wide release in US theaters on November 7, 2025. The film did not win the Palme d’Or prize it was in competition for (that went to Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident), but it did receive a six-minute standing ovation and was acquired by streamer Mubi for $24 million after an intense bidding war, making it the festival’s biggest sale this year.
