DYI Milo insulation installation?
My understanding is Milex will not sell their Milo insulation so you are forced to pay their installers. The cost is roughly 2x to 3x the cost of having cellulose or fiberglass blown in. Is there not any way to acquire sorghum based borate treated "peanut" insulation? If so, what is the cost? I have researched insulation options in depth, including an experienced home inspector that seems to prove once blown in fiberglass is stepped on, it does not re fluff well, reducing its insulation value by 25%. Cellulose does much better but the dust it creates makes attic work almost intolerable to me. At some point attic work is needed. With insulation depths at about 11" per code for new construction in my zone (central Oklahoma), your insulation is going to get stepped on and compressed. Milo is the best option without moving to spray foam, which I have rejected due to health and environmental concerns. Any assistance is much appreciated. submitted by /u/MarkAtAdmiralty [link] [comments]
