Looking for advice on materials for a desk top.
I was recently gifted a second-hand standing desk frame, and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to build my own desk! I largely have an idea of what I want from it; -66x23 inches, it can be a bit deeper but absolutely no longer. -Two or three drawers under the desk, whatever I can fit in the length, the drawers about 3-3.5 inches deep. In between the drawers will be support boards for the desktop. -Ideally using screw locks like an ikea desk, for easier disassembly if I have to move. My question then, is; what material would you guys recommend for the tabletop itself? I'm trying to be as cost-effective as I can be of course, would you recommend something like a butcher's block? I've read that cabinet-grade plywood could be a cost effective option, does it hold up well to time? I want this to last as long as possible. What thickness should I be looking for? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/thundermonkeyms [link] [comments]
