ATLA’s creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko collaborated with writer Gene Luen Yang (who wrote the American Born Chinese graphic novel) and illustrator Gurihiru on the comics, which help fill in the gaps between the end of the original Nickelodeon show and the start of The Legend of Korra, which picks up 70 years later.
