Global esports organisation Gen.G has announced a partnership with AI and blockchain company Theta Labs to bring its mascot to life.
Known as Genrang.bot, the AI-powered bot developed by Theta Labs aims to increase engagement among fans of the organisation.
According to a release, Genrang.bot will appear on Gen.G’s website and its Discord server, enabling fans to interact with the bot at all hours of the day. In addition, the bot will speak in English and Korean with the aim of creating ‘seamless global engagement’.
In addition to acting as an engagement tool for fans of Gen.G, Genrang.bot will also have the ability to answer a range of questions about the organisation, including which players are part of its esports rosters and insight into its history.
“We have always strived to provide our fan and mod community useful tools to engage our fans globally with our competitive teams and innovative brand partners,” said Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G.
“Our collaboration with Theta Labs will empower our community with the tools to go deeper within Gen.G and access information that is relevant to them anytime, anywhere.”
Genrang.bot will also host giveaways and ‘special activations’ on Discord, forming part of Gen.G’s overhaul to its server. The changes are designed to deepen interaction among the organisation’s community of fans.
The Rise of AI in Esports
Gen.G becomes the latest esports organisation to launch a chatbot designed to enhance fan engagement. Throughout 2025, the likes of NRG and Cloud9 have also collaborated with Theta Labs to launch their own chatbots.
Fortnite has also used AI within the battle royale title. As part of its recent collaboration with Star Wars, a Darth Vader chatbot allowed players to talk to the character.
With the use of AI becoming more prevalent in several areas, esports organisations are finding a range of uses to utilise it to improve various areas to offer fans more engaging experiences when interacting with the teams they support.
